Mourne Granite Quarries was founded on its present site in 1937 by Robert Linton. The company's roots extend back to the nineteenth century when it built its reputation quarrying Mourne Granite and producing setts and kerbs. I. Hamilton and Sons of Annalong, a similar capacity factory, was established in 1874 utilizing the local granite for the building of railway bridges and road contracts. In 1945 the production became orientated towards monumental work. Natural Stone Specialists was built in 1983 providing further primary sawing and polishing facilities. It assumes the responsibility for all group transport operations. The combined manufacturing facilities can ensure unequalled delivery service throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland.
